The World’s Most Expensive Foods
The world’s most expensive foods
Feeling peckish? When you’re an online casino jackpot winner though, you won’t want to nibble on just anything. Instead you’ll want to indulge in the finest delights the world has to offer – and you won’t even bother looking at the price tag. So place that napkin on your lap and get ready – the world’s most decadent (and extravagant) foods are about to be served up to you on a platter!
Berco’s Billion Dollar Popcorn: $250 per gallon
How do you make your popcorn? In a pot with some oil? In the microwave? Then chuck some salt and seasoning over and you’re done? Amateur! If you’re a real popcorn lover, there’s only one way to enjoy this crunchy treat, and that’s the Berco’s way! Forget generic butter and regular table salt. These popcorn kernels have been caressed with smooth creamery butter from Vermont, sprinkled with Laeso salt from Denmark, and flavoured with Nelson Massey Bourbon Vanilla. And then because Berco’s likes their popcorn to be totally extra, the kernels are then painstakingly coated with 23-carat gold flakes for that extra sparkle. Because if you’re not eating gold, you’re just not living.
Care to venture a guess at how much this OTT popcorn goes for? Try $5. But that’s not $5 a tub, that’s $5 a kernel! Averaging out at approximately $250 per gallon, this isn’t your ordinary movie night popcorn – but then you’re no ordinary casino winner, are you? So go ahead – dive right into popcorn heaven!
Grand Velas Los Cabos Taco: $25 000
There are tacos and then there are tacos. And the taco served at Grand Velas Los Cabos in Mexico is a TACO. All caps. You might be used to the Tex-Mex version at your local Mexican restaurant – lettuce, tomato salsa, chicken or beef, refried beans, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. Well forget all that and prepare your taste buds for this gourmet extravaganza!
In the mood for seafood? Hmm no, what about beef? Well with the world’s most expensive taco, you won’t have to choose – you’ll get both! Feast on mouthwatering langoustine, delectable Kobe beef, Almas Beluga caviar, and black truffle brie cheese too, all served up in a taco and topped with dried Morita chili salsa, premium tequila and civet coffee. Even better, you won’t just be given any old glass of water to wash your taco down with – you’ll be given a white gold and platinum bottle of tequila instead. So, what’s the damage? $25 000 for the taco, and an extra $150 000 for the tequila. If that doesn’t deserve an ‘ole’ we don’t know what does!
The Golden Phoenix Cupcake: $1 000
Everyone knows how to make cupcakes right? Or at least, if you don’t know how to make them, you sure know how to eat them. Cake and icing – a simple, yet delectable combination, and one that’s oh-so-moreish.
Well, you haven’t had a cupcake until you’ve had a Golden Phoenix cupcake, and that’s a fact. No shade on your mom’s recipe, but this cupcake is beyond! Forget about your usual store-bought ingredients – the Golden Phoenix is baked with only the finest Amedei Porcelana dark chocolate from Tuscany, imported vanilla beans from Uganda, and 23-carat gold as well. If you’d like to sink your teeth into one of these elaborate creations, best you make your way to Bloomsbury’s Cupcake store in Dubai, and place your order. Why stop at just one though? If you’ve got an online casino jackpot, you’ve got a cupcake party waiting to happen. Bon appétit!
Westin Hotel Bagel: $1 000
How expensive can a bagel actually be, right? It’s bread in the shape of a doughnut, with some kind of spread on top. Is it even possible to make a bagel expensive? If you’re Frank Tujague, the Executive Chef of New York’s Westin Hotel, the answer to that question is a resounding YES!
Order one of these babies and you won’t be getting any ordinary bagel with cream cheese and lox. Instead you’ll be getting a bagel smothered in white truffle cream cheese, goji berry-infused Riesling jelly, and (you guessed it) edible gold leaf. Talk about starting your morning with a sparkle!
Even better than the bagel though, is that the $1 000 price tag (don’t choke on that mouthful now) includes a donation to the Les Amis d’Escoffier Scholarship for culinary students. So each time you buy a bagel, you’re contributing to the future of food – which is delicious in itself. Sadly we see that the Westin Hotel Bagel is no longer available to order, but there’s no reason you can’t create one yourself in your kitchen at home. How hard can it be? (That was sarcasm, in case you were wondering.)
Very Expensive Pizza: $9 710
Forget subtlety – this menu item just puts it right out there. It calls itself the Very Expensive Pizza, and at $9 710 for one, it’s not joking. What makes this pizza so eye-wateringly pricy? Its extravagant seafood toppings of lobster, caviar and prawns, not to mention the cognac and champagne served on the side. What’s more, your pizza won’t arrive in a soggy takeaway box – instead you’ll have a pizza chef come to your house and cook it from scratch! The catch? When you order from Renato Viola, master pizza chef, you’ll need to have a house in Italy for your pizza to be cooked in. Like you actually needed an excuse to buy your very own Italian villa!
FleurBurger 5000: $5 000
No, it’s not just a clever name. The FleurBurger 5000 actually costs $5 000, and yes, it is actually a burger. Of course, it’s not your usual beef patty on a bun with a bit of salad. Instead, it’s a genuine Wagyu beef patty served with foie gras, shaved black truffles and a truffle sauce, lovingly sandwiched in between a blissful brioche bun. And on the side? Chips of course, and a bottle of 1995 Chateau Petrus 5000 wine (sporting a not-insignificant price tag of $2 500 on its own). Book yourself a stay at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Vegas, and you’ll be able to take a bite out of this extravagance for yourself. Just a word of warning though – after a FleurBurger 5000, you might not be able to ever go back to regular burger nights. Of course with millions in your bank account, why would you want to?
Zillion Dollar Lobster Frittata: $1 000
Feel like something a bit different for breakfast? Huevos rancheros? Shakshuka? Or how about a frittata? But not just any frittata – a zillion dollar one! Ok obviously it doesn’t cost a zillion dollars because then only Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos would be able to order one – but it does come in at a fairly pricy $1 000, making it one of the most expensive ways to enjoy your morning eggs. So what do you get for your $1 000 exactly? Only a frittata served on a bed of fried potatoes, and topped with an indulgent 280g of caviar and 450g of lobster. Makes a change from your regular old bacon and eggs, doesn’t it? If your pockets are deep enough for this particular brand of breakfast decadence, Norma’s restaurant at Manhattan’s Le Parker Meridien Hotel is where you’ll find it – and in fact, why not go all out and order two while you’re at it? Breakfast is the most important (and now the most expensive) meal of the day!
European White Truffles: $3 600
They’re a fungus, they grow underground, and they’re literally sniffed out by dogs. They’re also hugely valuable and hugely sought-after too. They’re European white truffles, and they’re found in France and Italy, hiding at the base of oak trees, waiting to be found by truffle hunters (yes, that’s an actual job) with trained dogs.
The second-most expensive food by weight, white truffles are prized in fine dining restaurants around the world, despite looking like odd potatoes. In fact, the Alba white truffle from Italy is so highly valued, its aroma is even thought to be an aphrodisiac. Take that, oysters! Regular white truffles usually sell for approximately $3 000 a pound, however three pounds of Alba white truffles were once sold for an astronomical $330 000 – a jackpot of its own for the hunter who sold them. We’re not saying you should go into the truffle business yourself, or even use them in your own cooking (you may need to hire your own gourmet chef to go along with them) but if you’re ever in a Michelin star restaurant trying to decide what to have for dinner, if your menu choice has white truffles in it, you know you’re going to be pulling out your Amex black card to pay the bill.
There’s a lot you can do with an online casino payout, but once you’ve done all the responsible adult things like buying a house, paying off debt, and paying for your children’s education, it’s time to splash out a little. And if you’re a foodie, then the options for indulging yourself are almost limitless. From $1 000 ice cream sundaes to $34 000 caviar and more, the world is a weird, wacky, wonderfully delicious place to be. So pull up a chair, pick up some cutlery, and dig in!
Wow, the decadent surprise of gold-flaked food is truly amazing! Can’t believe people actually splurge on that luxury. What a unique culinary adventure! 😊
Interesting theme variety in extravagant foods captivates and challenges norms, though focus on lavishness feels overwhelming.
Intriguing concept but wondering if extravagance distracts from taste experience. Curious how world affairs shape preferences.
