Double Joker Poker is exactly what the name implies; a standard video poker variant that tosses not one, but two, jokers into the mix. Because the chances of drawing a wild card are doubled, the pay table is reduced from a traditional Joker Poker game.

Double Joker Poker can be found at most online casinos, as well as the majority of big land-based casinos. The pay tables can vary slightly from one establishment to the next. The best pay table is one that offers “full pay”?, in which case the Four of a Kind will start at 9x for one coin inserted, and the Full House pays 5. This is called a 9/5 full pay and creates an excellent 99.97% payout percentage on Double Joker Video Poker games.

The pay table described in this guide refers to the Double Joker Poker games at Microgaming online casinos, which have a slightly less favorable pay table of 8/5. However, they also provide the exciting Double feature, where players have the option to play a quick High-Low game with the chance to instantly double their winnings.

Let’s take a look at the basic screen options of Double Joker Video Poker.

  • Optional Coin Sizes: $0.25, $0.50, $1, $2, $5
  • Coins per Play: 1 to 5
  • Min / Max Bet: $0.25 / $25
  • Max Payout: 4000 Coins
  • Lowest Winning Hand: Two Pairs

The very first thing you’ll want to do is set your coin size by clicking the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons at the bottom of the screen. Next, choose how many coins to wager by pressing the Bet One button as many times as necessary. Finally, click the Deal button to start the game. Note that pressing the Bet Max button will instantly bet the maximum 5 coins and initiate the deal automatically.

Your 5-card starting hand is dealt with each card exposed. At Microgaming online casino, basic strategy is applied, so don’t get worried if some of your cards have a HELD sign on them. It is meant to help inexperienced poker players make the best decisions according to which cards would most likely produce a winning outcome. You are NOT required to keep these cards. To change the HELD and un-held status of any card, simply click on it.

When you’re ready to draw new cards, click Deal. All HELD cards remain while all others are replaced with new cards. The result is your final 5-card hand. If the hand ranks high enough to win a payout, the corresponding hand rank and payout will be highlighted on the pay table, and your winnings automatically credited. If the hand does not rank high enough for a win, the bet is lost.

At Microgaming online casinos, every time a player wins on a video poker game, they are given the opportunity to bet double-or-nothing on a High-Low game. If you wish to risk your winnings, click the Double button. If you would rather keep the winnings, click Collect and the standard Double Joker Poker game continues.

Double Joker Video Poker Double Feature

When you choose to play the Double game, a new screen loads depicting 5 cards. The first card is exposed, but the other four are dealt face-down. Your job is to select one of the remaining cards in hopes that it ranks higher than the exposed card. If your chosen card is higher, you double your winnings. If not, all winnings are lost and the game screen returns to normal.

Note that whenever you win the Double game, you are again asked if you want to Double or Collect your winnings.
