California Online Poker Hearing Scheduled for April 27th

California’s known for a lot of things, but Internet gambling isn’t one of them. That could all change on Monday if a bill is passed.

AB 431, a bill that was introduced in early 2015, calls for the authorization to operate “an Internet poker website within the borders of the state.” If passed, the state’s gambling commission will have to provide a set of regulations for intrastate Internet gambling.

As we’ve talked about before, California has an astronomical amount of residents. Those residents have been hoping for some sort of Internet gambling for years. If legalized, many things will happen.

First and foremost, you’ll see a ton of no deposit bonuses and welcome bonuses. California is considered to be the proving grounds, and as such, site operators will want to encourage every eligible resident of its massive 38 million population to gamble online. Of course, we’ll document every single no deposit promotion, as well as rank them, just as we do now. It’s also entirely possible that the deals will be so good that we’ll have to create a category just for California!

Second, California will be a testing ground. Keep in mind that this is just for poker, not casino games, but this is a huge step for the residents of California. With its 38 million residents, California can potentially pave the way for legalized online gambling across the country.

California isn’t alone – Pennsylvania wants to legalize online gambling, too. Many analysts are now saying that the legalization of online gambling in one or all forms is no longer a matter of if, but when.

In addition to this, online sports betting is on the brink of legalization. Adam Silver, the commissioner of the NBA, is all for online sports betting and sees it as the future. While other sports commissioners don’t necessarily feel the same way, Silver is actively involved in this issue.

The best part about all of this is that no matter what, the players win. There’s already great no deposit bonuses out there, but if California or Pennsylvania were to legalize online gambling, the bonuses would get even better. If online sports betting is legalized, you’re really going to see no deposit bonuses take off. Just think – hourly no deposit bonuses, special event no deposit bonuses – the possibilities are endless!

We’re on the edge of a gambling revolution, and no deposit promotions are what sets them apart from traditional land-based casino games.
