Internet Gambling Ignored on Election Day
Unless you live under a rock, you’re fully aware that there was a huge event last week. Maybe you were looking forward to it, or maybe you only realized it after passing several signs along the road.
Last week was the United State Senate election, and millions of people took part in it. This was the time that they had the chance to let their voice be heard on a variety of issues. Though several issues were ignored, one’s omission was particularly noticeable: online gambling.
It’s unfortunate that voters didn’t get the chance to let their voices be heard in regards to online gambling. It’s always been fairly obvious that politicians were scared of discussing the issue and all of the benefits that online gambling could bring, but its omission was still disappointing.
Politicians want you to believe that online gambling is a terrible thing. They want you to believe that your identity will get stolen, you’ll lose all of your hard earned money, and it’ll ruin your life. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Your information is encrypted and secured, and thanks to no deposit promotions, sites will potentially help you make more money than you could’ve ever imagined.
Then the results came in, and it’s not good news.
The GOP is back in full force in the Senate. There were only 13 states that voted a Democrat into the Senate. 20 states voted in a Republican. The Governor election was even more one-sided, with about 10 states voting Democrat and roughly 24 voting Republican.
What does this mean for the future of online gambling?
Well, in the immediate future, not much. However, Republicans have a less than stellar track record with online gambling. In fact, we’d go so far as to say they hate it. You know who else hates it? Sheldon Adelson. Guess who’s a huge GOP supporter?
Sheldon Adelson is undoubtedly happy. This majority could lead to new supporters of the Restoration of America’s Wire Act, however, we still contend that truth and common sense will prevail. The numbers don’t lie – the people want online gambling, it’s generating a great amount of revenue, and the money is used to improve the state.
Still, though, all hope is not lost. There are those that oppose it, sure, but more and more people are changing their minds every day. Recently, NBA commissioner Adam Silver announced that the NBA supports online sports betting, which means they support online gambling, which is a huge endorsement.
It’s a long, difficult path to get to the nationwide legalization of online gambling. The journey has taken over a decade, but we’re slowly approaching the end of the road. Will it be a dead end, or will online gambling finally be legalized in the United States?
