Two major online gambling groups have just launched new online poker apps designed for the Apple iPhone. Bwin, developer of online poker and sports betting opportunities, released its iPhone poker app last week, while Microgaming, the world’s leading online casino software developer, unveiled its iPhone poker app just yesterday.

Bwin hosts its operations from Austria and the United Kingdom, therefore its iPhone poker app has been made available to iPhone users from those regions of the world. The company has yet to announce any intentions to expand its availability, but experts in the online gambling field are certain that the mobile poker app will be introduced to other European markets before the year is out.

Bwin is scheduled to merge operations with the world’s largest online casino group, PartyGaming, in the coming months. The conjunction of these two conglomerates is expected to rollover into the mobile gaming sector as well, which could be phenomenally successful when you consider the size of PartyGaming’s elite brands, Party Casino and Party Poker.

Microgaming is a major developer of internet gaming software, especially famed for its online casino platform; the largest and most utilized across the world wide web. The Microgaming Poker Network is a power player in the online poker community as well, thus its new iPhone poker app is sure to attract a lot of attention.

Microgaming’s director of online poker, Lydia Melton, commented on the new mobile poker platform, stating that “the technology is ready”. With leading operators holding a Microgaming software licenses, the industry is looking towards major brands like Betway, UniBet and Ladbrokes to jump on the opportunity to expand their player volume by integrating the iPhone mobile poker app in the coming weeks.

It’s no secret that the general population is leaning towards hand-held devices to conduct more and more of their online activities. The intense advancements in smartphone innovation as of late have caused rapid growth in market share for mobile technology. Thus, experts in the field of online real-money gaming apps have envisioned 2011 to be a landmark year for both users and operators alike.
