Carbon Poker Seeks Testers for its New Mobile Platform
One of the Merge Gaming Network’s leading operators, Carbon Poker, is about to release its mobile poker platform for players who wish to access the virtual tables via their hand-held devices. Altering from its traditional course of being more of a follower, however, Carbon Poker will be the first US-facing poker site to offer a mobile poker venue, which makes this exciting news for American poker fans.
The Carbon Poker mobile platform isn’t quite ready yet, but the company is in the final stages of completion and would like its players to assist in the ultimate decision making process. Carbon Poker is asking that its members take part in testing the new mobile poker games. Players who are interested in participating in the testing of the software are invited to submit their login ID (username) and Carbon Poker nickname via email to VIPHost@CarbonPoker.ag with the subject line “CarbonPoker Mobile Client Offer”?.
In order to participate, players must have access to a mobile device powered by Apple iOS 5.0 or greater, including the iPod Touch or iPhone. Anyone using an Android powered device will not be eligible to participate at this time, although Carbon Poker does promise an Android compatible mobile poker platform “in the near future”?.
While in its final testing phase, the online poker room’s mobile division will not be supplying any real money poker games just yet. For the moment, the tables are restricted to No Limit, Fixed Limit and Pot Limit variations of Texas Hold’em. In addition to these limitations, ring games are the only available method of play for the time being. Carbon Poker said that more poker variants, as well as a full tournament roster, will be incorporated soon.
Carbon Poker announced the upcoming release of mobile poker and began accepting player applications on Friday, February 8, 2013 to test the new software. The poker games will be played in a web-based arena, rather than a native application. According to PokerFuse, who received confirmation from a Carbon Poker spokesperson, the choice to stay web-based was one of necessity in order to maintain its commitment to US players.
A mobile poker application would require Apple users to obtain the software via the Apple Store, which restricts Americans from download real-money poker applications. By resorting to a fully web-based system, Carbon Poker could bypass the approval of Apple Store and thereby deliver its product to US residents, as well as players from other regions of the globe.
Assuming that the testing phase goes off without a hitch, Carbon Poker’s new US-facing mobile poker room should be available in the very near future, although the online poker site has yet to speculate on a release date of the final product.
