On Valentine’s Day, the World Series of Poker released its official schedule for the 2013 WSOP. It will include 62 events in all, including all of the usual suspects, a re-visitation to last year’s phenomenally successful One Drop event, plus the WSOP’s first ever guaranteed prize as a new high-roller tournament called the Millionaire Maker.

The Millionaire Maker is stirring up a lot of conversation around the virtual water cooler. The World Series of Poker has never committed to a guaranteed prize in the past, and isn’t exactly guaranteeing a full pool amount. However, the two-day event, beginning on June 1st, guarantees a cool million to the 1st place winner. The Millionaire Maker obliges a $1,500 buy-in and players who bust out on day-one will have the option to re-buy on day-two.

Another event in this year’s World Series that is attracting a lot of attention is the One Drop. Last year, in its very first appearance at the WSOP, The Big One for One Drop required a massive $1,000,000 buy-in just to participate. This year, it’s been split into two separate events; one for high-rollers and another for much more reasonable stakes.

The first is termed the One Drop High Rollers event, and though the original $1M buy-in has been drastically reduced to encourage increased participation, it will still cost $111,111 to register. The second, smaller event is deemed the “The Little One for One Drop”?, and will cost $1,111 to claim a seat,

The 2013 WSOP Main Event is slated for nine days, running from June 6th through the 15th, when the final table will be determined. As always, the buy-in is $10,000 and the competition will determine the winner of the year’s most coveted World Series of Poker Championship Bracelet come November.

Every year, the World Series of Poker holds its prestigious Ladies Events, where the fem fatales of the poker world come together to battle it out for the championship of fiercest female poker player. This year, the WSOP will be allowing the guys to get in on the action too, but the gals will have a distinct advantage. Ladies can buy-in for just $1,000, whereas the men will have to drop $10,000 to grab a seat.

One final event that takes exception to the WSOPs of yesteryear is a new Open Face Chinese Poker tournament. The game has become incredibly popular over the last few years; enough to gain recognition at the 2013 WSOP side tables, but not enough to be worthy of a bracelet.
